BEST OF THE BATCH

What an absolutely heart wrenching film. It was not a pleasurable experience to watch this film, as it was with the other fourteen new entrants. However, I can't deny that this was the best film I saw over the past six months. I cried, I ached for these people. Dying at Grace made me think about my own mortality and made me wish I lived in Canada, so that one day, when my number was up, I could die at Grace, in the care of such kind, dedicated professionals. I loved this film, despite how difficult it was to watch.

REVENGE!

I had been wanting to see this movie for quite a while and finally got a chance to check it out a few months ago. It completely lived up to the hype! Just a great, little story involving characters who intertwine into each others lives. This was right up my alley. Loved it!

CREAM OF THE CROP

I've got three more entries to present to you and they're definitely the cream of this crop. This was my second viewing of Amour and it definitely stood out both times. I REALLY need to see the rest of Haneke's filmography, because I have a good feeling I'm not done including Haneke movies on my list. This joins Funny Games and Cache to make it three for the German born director.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF MUSICAL

I am coming to love John Carney and his brand of musicals. I'm currently dying to see Sing Street and it's on Netflix which means I can watch it whenever. Anyway, we're talking about Begin Again and it really was one of my favorite movies I saw last year. Definitely something for everybody - feel good story, quality filmmaking and a great soundtrack.

NEW PACINO ENTRIES: 3 of 3

What a gem this is and one that I found back when I was a teenager, just getting interested in films. I used to LOVE Al Pacino (still do - maybe not quite as much) and at one point would watch anything of his I could get my hands on. This is one that still holds up. A FANTASTIC little neo-noir, crime thriller with a fabulous cast, including Pacino, John Goodman and the always great Michael Rooker. Ellen Barkin is also great as the dame to Pacino's detective. I just love this one and it's always been one that I can enjoy anytime.
